Series 3 / A Guide's Life / NWT / Pike, Lakers

So you want to be a fishing guide? What is the life of a guide really like? That’s what Kathryn set out to expose to the public. She was adopted as a honourary guide at the camp and got to experience first hand what it’s like to be a guide in the remote regions of Canada. Practical jokes, friendly rivalries for who could produce the biggest fish in a season, what goes on in guide–land after hours, responsibility for their clients and the lengths they go to week after week to ensure that the anglers have a safe, productive and fun time on the water. It left Kathryn wondering why the guides come back year after year to battle the bugs, inclement weather, long work weeks without a break and being separated from their families for months at a go – they must really love to fish.
